Mac Ripe For Love

Hello all,
So I went into Mac today, and usually I can restrain myself, but not this time. I ended up purchasing the peach toned blush from Mac's Temperature Rising collection for this summer. Homygoodness, if you haven't already gone in to take a look, go now, before everything is gone. I am a blush addict, I have far more blush than a girl could ever use and yet I find myself buying more and more, and today was no exception.

Ripe For Love is a beautiful (satin) peach blush that I just had to have. It has a little bit of sparkle and shimmer to it that looks gorgeous in the sun, but it's not so overpowering that your cheeks remind people of a disco ball.

It looks a bit different in the shade, so I included swatches both in the sun and the shade. The picture above is in slight shade, while the left
swatch is in rather dark shade, and of course the swatch on the right is in the sun.

I think this blush is just beautiful. It retails for $27.50 CAD and I would definitely go pick this up while it's around.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

In addition to the NARS blushes I got at Murale I was also able to get the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum ($82 CAD at Murale, $79 CAD at Sephora). Marketed to correct dark spots and brighten your complexion, I was really interested to see if this product worked.
So far I like this product a lot. Its very light and I find it absorbs quickly into my skin, that said I have very dry skin so most products absorb quickly. It has a nice scent but it's not overpowering. I assume it smells similar to most of their other products since they are all derived from the grape plants. If you're interested in learning more about the ingredients in Caudalie's products you should visit their website where they have a ton of information available.
The product comes in a glass bottle that I am perpetually afraid of breaking, but it seems pretty heavy duty, just don't throw it across the room to test that theory. The only thing I don't like it that application is using a dropper. Im more of a pump person because I always forget to put on lids which leaves to inevitable spilling. However, I assume the dropper is designed to deliver the exact amount you need and that's the reason for it.

Update: I've now used the entire bottle of the vinoperfect radiance serum and I can't say I've noticed any dramatic changes, maybe a bit more even skin tone but other than that I haven't seen any improvement. I have also had pretty poor skin over the past month so any progress made by using this serum may have been counteracted by new imperfections and dark spots.

As a last note, I came across the little cruelty free symbol on the bottom of the inside of the packaging, which seems like an odd place to put it, but it's always something that makes me happy to see.

NARS Pierre Hardy Blushes

I'll admit it, I got sucked in by the pretty white boxes and the the sparkley overlay.
Once you get past that, the blushes are still beautiful. However, they are, in my opinion, ridiculously expensive ($48 CAD), and the only reason I was willing to get them was that I wasnt actually spending my money, I was using my points up at Murale. If you're in the market for a splurge blush though these are beautiful.

Boys Don't Cry (above) is a rose coloured blush, with maybe some subtle peach in there as well, and it is the one that caught my eye in the store. The colour is best represented by the small picture above, the largest picture is more pink than in reality, but doesn't it look so pretty sitting in the grass?
Rotonde is easier to describe. It's orange. Very much orange. But as orange is my favourite colour, I'm a fan. Both blushes are easy to apply and can either apply a nice light wash of colour (provided you're working with a light hand, as they are quite pigmented) and the colour can easily be built up.

The overlay that is oh so beautiful is also quite sparkly and that does show up when you apply the blushes. If you don't like sparkles then you probably wont like these at first, however, it is just an overlay and after using it enough it will go away and the blushes appear to be matte, admittedly it is difficult to be certain with the sparkles from the overlay everywhere.
