Smashbox - Flush

Hi all,
I got some new blushes....

I love this blush it's soooooo pretty. It's Smashbox's blush in Flush. Its a beautiful pink colour with a lot of sparkle in it. Normally I don't like that much sparkle but for Smashbox I'm willing to make an exception.

It does apply very sheer at first but it's buildable. It retails at $29 CAD... but I got mine at a shoppers drug mart spend you points event (I have a problem okay. I like shoppers. I'm working on the self control thing)

Unfortunately I only have a swatch of it in the shade, as when I tried to take a picture in the sun all you could see was a load of sparkle without a lot of colour. Makes me question how good this will be for the summer time, when there is supposed to be a lot of sun, but seeing as how I'm in an office everyday I don't think I'll be having any problems.

The long and the short of it is, I love this, it's super pretty, but also super sparkly. I'm also partial to anything Smashbox so I could be a bit biased.

Lazy Summer Days

Sometimes you just need a day of relaxation.

I love getting to sit in my backyard in my giant recliner and snack and read and just chill out.

As long as the wasps and mosquitoes say away it's a great way to spend the day.

Nail Quickie - China Glaze - Neon&On&On

Hi all,
I painted my nails with China Glaze's Neon & On & On, a vibrant pink colour, this past saturday. Unfortunately, by mid day today (Tuesday) nearly all my nails have chipped either a little bit or a lot.
I found this polish to chip much more easily than Sun of a Peach or Highlight of My Summer which I purchased at the same time. I used the same base and top coat with each of the polishes and did my nails in the same way, it just seems this particular polish chips more easily.

The colour was not quite as neon as I had hoped (especially because of the name), I did not however use a white base coat which could make a significant difference. It is possible I also have unrealistic expectations of the ability of a nail polish to be extremely neon.

I tried to photograph my nails with this polish on but before I could find lighting where the colour translated into a photo and all my nails began to chip.

China Glaze - Sun Of A Peach

Hi all,
I got some polishes from the China Glaze Sunsational collection and Sun Of A Peach is one of them. Sun Of A Peach is a creme polish that has a neon peachy orange colour. I got it for $6.95 CAD from nailpolishcanada (this link will take you straight to the polish's page).

I found this polish a bit difficult to apply, as it i a creme polish it's quite thick. I don't have any sort of thinner to put into it so I make do trying to work quickly and carefully. It took 3 coats for the pictures below. Excuse the not so beautiful nails, they're all I've got and lately have been dry and flaky so I've had to keep them quite short, not to mention going to dairy farms with long nails can be a bit of a hassle sometimes.

Outdoors, cloudy
Inside, overhead lighting
I'm curious to try the polish using white as a base underneath. I think it would make the colour even more neon, and potentially get it down to being opaque in 2 coats or maybe even 1.

Nail Polish Canada

Okay everyone, let's talk about nail polish.
I love nail polish, I have an ever so slight obsession, but it can be expensive and stores don't always have the colours you want and it can just get kind of frustrating. That's where comes in.

Oh my goodness I love this site. Essie is only $7.96 CAD compared to $8.96 at Walmart all the way up to $11.99. Can it get better? Yes. It can.

I ordered five China Glaze polishes each at $6.96 CAD, which I think is super good for nail polish in general. I haven't been able to find China Glaze polishes in any store I've looked at, except for winners but they always have maybe three different colours there, so ordering them online is more or less the only way to get them. But I'm okay with that, because I love this site so much.
Left to Right: To Yacht To Handle, Neon & On & On, Isle See You Later, Sun Of A Peach,  Highlight Of My Summer
Left: Naughty Nautical, Right: Sunday Funday
The other amazing this is you get free Canadian shipping on orders over $25 (which I always take advantage of) or pay just $3 for shipping, which for an Essie polish would amount to nearly the same price as going to the drug store to buy one, which I think is a pretty crazy deal. I've never had a problem with shipping it's always gotten to me in the 2-7 days it's supposed to take, and everything is always packaged really well so I've never received a broken polish.

Last thing to say is you get polish points. I am an absolute sucker for points system. I'll admit it. You get 10 points for every $1, plus bonus points on orders $45 (250 bonus points) or above, or $70 (700 bonus points) and above. Then you spend those points on more nail polish, or nail tools or any other thing they have in the rewards catalog.

That's all I have to say about that. It's amazing, go check it out.
