Sephora - Formula X "The System"

2015-05-25

Hi all,
You wouldn't believe how difficult it is to get back into the swing of things after school. I have been done for about a month now, and I've had a lot of days off work, but it still feels like I've had no free time. So here I go trying to get back into the swing of things.

I purchased the Sephora Formula X "The System" back when Sephora was having their VIB sale and I've been testing it out over the past few weeks.  It comes with a cleanser, base coat, top coat and your choice of colour for $40 CAD, which for four products is a very reasonable cost, even if it seems like dropping $40 for nail polish all at once makes it seem like their really expensive.

I definitely recommend this bundle. I've been searching for a new favourite amazing base coat for months now and nothing seemed to be able to keep polish on my nails for more than 2 (maybe three days if I was lucky) before serious chipping. Using all of the products including a Sephora nail colour, my nails last 4-5 days without chipping, though sometimes a bit less if I've had multiple eight hour work days but even then it's minimal chipping on the tips that's very hard to notice.

The cleanser, base and top coat work equally well with the Essie polishes I've tried (such as go ginza), however I have found it to be less effective with china glaze polishes. That was really unfortunate as many of my favourite colors are from china glaze. I tested the cleanser with an Orly base coat and found it worked well and didn't chip for about three days of full-time work.

Overall if you were only to buy one of these products I'd recommend the cleanser, I think it's the product that really makes the difference, having similar results using a separate base and top coat with the cleanser. I believe it works on the same principle as OPI's chip skip, so if you already have that then you probably don't need this one as well.

Alright, well that's all I've got for now, sorry if this post was a bit wordy and such, getting back into things is much harder than I thought it would be.
